Errorgance: To be twice as certain as someone who is merely arrogant, while possessing only one-tenth the requisite facts.

I found this term while browsing the atheist experience blog post on episode #675. The comments and discussion largely focused on the last caller to the show, whose dialog can be seen on youtube here. The caller, Troy, starts to make comments on the existence of the universe, and how the inability of the show hosts to prove that there must be a naturalistic explanation, that therefore the christian god must be the answer. Throughout the call, and subsequent comment to the blog post, he continually used logically fallacies and then accused the hosts of the same fallacies. The biggest problem with his arguments is the “false dichotomy” or “false dilemma” fallacy. Via wikipedia: “The logical fallacy of false dilemma (also called false dichotomy, the either-or fallacy) involves a situation in which only two alternatives are considered, when in fact there are other options.” Every time this was brought up he made another assumption. It seems that reasoning with theists is pointless sometimes.
